In the David Lowery directed film, with a budget of $100,000 and a Box Office of 1.8 million, a loving couple comes to terms with death. Casey Affleck is seen only in a sheet, as a forlorn young ghost, pining for his equally forlorn wife, played by Rooney Mara.

Not bad for an IDMB score of 6.8 and a 28% approval on Rotten Tomatoes. Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow, and his regulars. This time his realm is in danger by ghost pirates and he must find the trident of Poseidon to remain king of the high seas. Javier Bardem, Orlando Bloom, Kaya Scodelario star, from a script by Jeff Nathanson, directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg.

The Book of Henry. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDB pro-rating 6.3 with a 22% approval from Rotten Tomatoes. Child abuse is the core of this story starring Naomi Watts from a script by Gregg Harwitz, directed by Colin Trevorrow. A brilliant young boy, Jacob Tremblay, takes care of his family, while busy single Mom (Naomi Watts) tries to work and write children’s stories. Through his window, he sees that his charming neighbor is being abused by her step-father, a decorated member of the local Police and a bully to boot. No one believes the stories of abuse, so the boy devises a plan for her escape and writes it all down in a book. He is stricken with a brain tumor and dies tragically, but when his mother finds the book, she takes matters  into adult hands to help save the girl. Maddie Ziegler, Jaeden Lieberher, and Dean Morris star.

The Survivalist. DVD. IMDB pro-rating 6.3 with a 93% approval from Rotten Tomatoes. A man lives alone in the forest, but when two women become lost, and try to take over his territory, things turn violent. Winner of the British Indie Film Award and the Douglas Hickox Directorial Debut Award for Stephan Singleton. Mia Goth, Martin McCain, Olwen Fouvere, Andrew Simpson and Douglas Russell, star.
