Alien: Covenant Sequel Already in the Works (and more tidbits)

For those who can’t wait for the May 12th release of Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien: Covenant’, they will be tickled pink to hear that Scott said a script for the sequel has already been written: “While working on Alien: Covenant, he had the next installment written so he is ready to keep advancing the saga. “You’ve got to assume to a certain extent success and from that, you’d better be ready,” he says. “You don’t want a two-year gap. So I’ll be ready to go again next year.”’

And if that wasn’t enough, he also had this to say about the potential for him helming future films in the franchise: “If you really want a franchise, I can keep cranking it for another six.” Clearly Scott has had a heck of a time filming the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Prometheus.’

It’s as if Scott, who at one time looked to never return to the Alien franchise, is now in full love affair mode with it again. I’m not sure many remember but he was never asked to helm the sequel to his original “Alien”, “ALIENS”, and over the years he eventually opened up about how that essentially hurt him that he was never asked to return back then. Well, now it that he’s back in the driver’s seat, even at the age of 79, he’s not planning on relinquishing control of it any time soon. That, my friends, is pretty fucking cool, indeed.

Now, in addition to the future looking bright for ALIEN fans, some of the workers on the upcoming film have attested it’s not only the goriest film in the franchise, but it also trumps the blood seen in another violent film (per IGN.UK’s set visit): During our visit to the Sydney set, we are told time and time again that Alien: Covenant is the “bloodiest film” the crew has ever worked on (and Creatures Supervisor Conor O’Sullivan worked on Saving Private Ryan).

If the public wants more of the Alien franchise, then the box office for ‘Alien: Covenant’ will need to be impressive. However, based on the trailers and what I’ve read about the film’s production, something tells me it’ll be nothing short of massive success! Nuff said.
