With the Presidential Election around the corner HBO decided they couldn’t get rid of their political bad boy. They agreed to bring Bill Maher back in for the 11th and 12th seasons to comment on our new or remaining president and his first or fifth year in office.

The President of HBO Programming, Michael Lombardo announced Tuesday that Real Time will be staying on through 2014. Lombardo said,

“Bill Maher’s irreverent wit and fearless insights make him the perfect observer for these unpredictable times. I’m delighted that we can continue to offer an uncensored forum for his original and thoughtful humor.”

Emmy Nominated 27 times and yet to be awarded the prize, Maher is coming off a very successful 10th season with the highest average viewership his show has seen in 3 years reports Deadline Hollywood. The show pulled 4.1 million viewers per show and with the looming election the viewership will no doubt grow.
