Jerry Seinfeld is making Netflix his new home for his series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. The deal also includes two new Seinfeld stand-up specials as well as the development of scripted and non-scripted comedy programming for the Internet network.
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee launched on Sony’s Crackle in 2012 and just premiered its ninth season, which will be the last on the free, ad-supported streaming service. The next season of will launch on Netflix in late 2017. If you haven’t watched any of the episodes don’t worry they are coming to Netflix too.
“Jerry is known the world over as both a great TV innovator and beloved comic voice,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix. “We are incredibly proud to welcome him to the Netflix comedy family.”
If you don’t know, Comedians in Cars features Seinfeld joining friends for a cup of coffee and a drive in a classic car, sharing stories along the way. He has had such guests as Barack Obama, former co-star Julia Louis Dreyfus, and Larry David.
