Dead at 89, Roger Moore Was A Joy to Watch Throughout His Career…

All I can say is the world has seemingly lost a wonderful spirit today in Roger Moore. He ultimately lost his battle with cancer.  Now, my experience watching him over the years stemmed directly from the James Bond franchise. You see, when you’re a young lad and growing up in even the late 80s, you still knew who he was. His take on 007 may not be considered the best Bond, but his was certainly the most “fun” to watch in the role to date. The plots to the films he was in went hand and hand with his on screen persona– lots of gags, lots of winking and smiling at the camera and overall, how could one not feel a lot of joy watching him bring that larger than life character off the page and onto the big screen?? He made it look almost too easy…

007 aside, this was a fellow who spent a heck of a lot of time working as a Goodwill Ambassador for Unicef since 1991, trying to help bolster Children’s rights and quality of life around the world. In addition to that, he was also a big sponsor for PETA, to try spread awareness of animal cruelty around the globe. Bottom line? He really seemed to care beyond the fictional role he was most known for.

His former co-star, Jane Seymour, had this to say of the man she once starred side by side with in the Bond film, ‘Live and Let Die’ : “I am devastated to learn of Roger Moore’s passing,” Seymour wrote alongside a photo of the pair together. “The first leading role I ever had as a Bond girl was such a new and frightening world and Roger held my hand and guided me through every process. He taught me about work ethic and humility.”

Below you will find a stash of clips from his days playing the British spy with a Licence to Kill– Enjoy!
