Demi Lovato and Sarah Blaine Dignity Gala Event Against Human Trafficking

Demi Lovato Dignity Gala

Demi Lovato and Sarah Blaine recently performed at the launch of the Redlight Traffic app at the Dignity Gala at The Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Redlight Traffic is a program of the Seattle Kiwanis Memorial Fund who hosted the Dignity Gala to honor those who are fighting against human trafficking. Proceeds from the gala will help Redlight Traffic research groundbreaking new approaches to accelerate the end of human trafficking and recover victims as quickly as possible.

During the event, Demi performed her very emotional and personal song “Warrior” for the first time live. Watch the beautiful performance below.

We also had the chance to catch up with Sarah Blaine who opened the show and interview her about the event and more.

Miz Hollywood: How did you get involved with this event?

Sarah Blaine: I’ve been interested in the fight to end human trafficking for a long time, but a friend was actually invited to this specific event. At first I just wanted to attend the gala to support the cause and see Demi perform, but we got in touch with the head of the organization and he loved my music.

MH: Why is this event important to you?

SB: Human trafficking is such a HUGE issue that so many people don’t know about. It goes on in our own neighborhoods here in the United States – not to mention countless other countries. It CANNOT be swept under the rug anymore. Far too many women and children are slaves. That’s never been okay but in this day and age it’s completely intolerable.

MH: How was it performing before Demi Lovato?

SB: Performing before Demi was such a HUGE honor. Her voice is absolutely incredible and I’m a big fan of hers. I’ve been preparing myself for opportunities like this for a long time but it doesn’t change how surreal it felt.

MH: Will you continue to support and be apart of the human trafficking awareness?

SB: Raising awareness for this cause is definitely something I plan on continuing. It can’t get swept under the rug anymore. For more information on human trafficking people can visit redlighttraffic.org.

MH: What was it like performing at your first event of that caliber?

SB: Like I said before, opening for Demi was surreal. Aside from that, it felt really good to be performing for such a worthy cause. Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up and make performances about yourself. With this I didn’t really have any nerves. I knew that what I was doing was helping others and that made it even more special.
