Simone Battle, member of the pop group G.R.L. was found dead on Friday in her home, her record label has confirmed. The singer was 25.

Battle’s body was found in the bedroom of her apartment by her father. According to reports it seems to be a suicide.

Battle was a former X-Factor contestant. Founder of the Pussycast Dolls Robin Antin snapped her up to join G.R.L. a girl group she was starting.  G.R.L. recently sang with Pitbull on the song “Wild Wild Love”.

Robin Antin released a statement on Twitter saying, “Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time.”

The group took to their Twitter account saying:

“Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone’s incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart,” the members wrote on Saturday. “We will carry her memory with us in everything we do.”

I had the pleasure of interviewing the G.R.L. and meeting Simone at the opening of The Sugar Factory in Hollywood. They were all so sweet and sang live for me. She was a great talent.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.
