Today, Variety shared a behind the scenes look at the Gilmore Girls musical that Taylor Doose puts on. Taylor decides to put on a show to celebrate the town’s history, which will feature guest appearances from Tony Award winning stars Sutton Foster and Christian Borle. Fun fact, the two used to be married.

Variety also spoke to Tony Award winning composer Jeanine Tesori (FUN HOME) about her new original music written for the project.

“I got to know Amy and Dan through Sutton. They came on board as producers of “Violet” when we moved from City Center to Broadway, and then we were looking for a project to do together,” explains Tesori. “There were certain things that didn’t work. And then out of the blue I got a call, and Amy said, “Can I send you some pages? We’re doing a musical inside the show,” and I thought, “Hell, yeah.”

The highly anticipated GILMORE GIRLS: A YEAR IN THE LIFE premieres Friday, November 25th! The show picks up nine years after the original Gilmore Girls. The four, 90-minute movies, are bringing your favorite Stars Hollow residents back together – Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham), Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel), Emily Gilmore (Kelly Bishop), Luke Danes (Scott Patterson), Sookie St. James (Melissa McCarthy) and many more. Sutton Foster will also make a guest appearance.
