GIRLS premiered on HBO back in 2012 and will have it’s 6th and final season in February.
Since its debut fans have witnessed the growth of the characters…well, sort of.
Now that the final season is approaching many fans have been wondering what will become of the characters. If season 5 is any indicator it doesn’t look great for any of them.
Girls creator and star, Lena Dunham, explained that they wanted to end the show before it overstayed its welcome.
“We were always conscious, especially because the show has been at times such a lightning rod, of overstaying our welcome,” Dunham said. “We’ve been very blessed to have the experience of people continuing to engage in the show in a really kind of rabid way after four — heading into five — years. We wanted to make sure we kept the momentum alive and didn’t allow it to soften over time.”
For me it’s been one of those shows that I can’t seem to look away from even though I’m not a fan of all the characters. Critics praised the show for its raw nature, humor, and refreshing tone, applauding Dunham’s more realistic portrayal of women and their relationships than mainstream media tends to present.
This February we say goodbye to Hannah, Jessa, Marnie and Shoshanna but we are giving away Season 5 on DVD for you to own!! So, it won’t be goodbye forever.
