The sequel to the 2009 Blockbuster, Star Trek, has not had a lot of media hype around it but as is the promotion style of J.J. Abrams. However, at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday the Lost director appeared in a pre-taped bit about an archery consultant, and behind him on a monitor was what appeared to be a Klingon. Klingons are recurring villains in the 1960s television show Star Trek: The Original Series, and have appeared in all five spin-off series.

“Trekies” have been circulating many internet rumors around the film, but now these fans have some solid to work with as HitFix.com’s Drew McWeeny confirms that the image behind Abrams is indeed a screen shot from the much awaited sequel and does in fact show us a Klingon.

The part the iconic villains will play in follow up is something Abrams is not ready to share with us but all will be revealed May 17, 2013 when the movie hits theaters. Until then enjoy this video snack of the Klingons in a scene that was cut from the 2009 Star Trek.
