New York Magazine once called David Frei “probably the most famous human in the world of canines.” Frei is well known to millions of television viewers as the host and expert analyst of “The National Dog Show Presented by Purina” since its inception in 2002.  He is also the longtime co-host of USA Network’s “Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.”

A longtime breeder-owner-handler and judge in the world of purebred dogs, Frei’s Afghan Hounds, Brittanys and his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel have experienced much competitive success. He has judged at dog shows in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Denmark and China.  He is most proud of the work that his own dogs do as therapy dogs, regularly visiting at the Ronald McDonald House New York, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and the VA Medical Center in New York.

NBC’s Mary Carillo will report from the benching area and inside the show ring.  Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir also join the show as reporters and digital contributors. Celebrating America’s love of man’s best friend, the telecast showcases some 1,700 purebred canines competing for the title of “Best in Show.” Unlike traditional dog show coverage, the National Dog Show offers the country’s 65 million pet-owning households an afternoon of family-oriented features, facilitated by the open format of the Kennel Club of Philadelphia event. http://www.nbc.com/national-dog-show
