‘Les Miserables’ Trailer

The first trailer for Les Miserables is here! In it is a chilling rendition of one of the most famous songs from the musical, “I Dreamed a Dream,” sung by Anne Hathaway.

From the trailer the movie looks epic and very emotional. Hathaway’s voice sings throughout the trailer as images of the French countryside and poverty go by.

Joining the cast is Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried, Russell Crowe, Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter.

The musical, based on Victor Hugo‘s classic novel, follows paroled prisoner Jean Valjean (Jackman) who takes in Fatine’s (Hathaway) illegitimate daughter Cosette (Seyfried) and raises her. At the same time, his freedom is threatened by Inspector Javert (Crowe), who is determined to send Valjean back to prison.

Sometimes when musicals are made into movies it’s not very well done. From this trailer I think this is going to be very well done and something to remember.

Les Miserables is set to open in theaters on Dec. 14.
