After all the controversy, albeit justifiably controversy, surrounding the discontinuation of the ‘Nintendo Classic Edition’, sources close to Nintendo have reported to Eurogamer.net that a Super Nintendo version will be launched by Christmas of this year.
I’m not trying to be cynical but for those of us who thought the original Nintendo iteration of this was tough to find on store shelves, boy, you ain’t seen nothing yet!! Let’s be real here. Unless Nintendo has learned their lesson to not jerk around consumers that only wanted to buy the classic to play it, and not sell it on the black market, then the same debacle will occur with a Super Nintendo Classic Edition.
However, if they do figure how to prevent so many supply shortages, let’s consider what a dream list of games would be for the SNES. Here’s mine:
- Super Mario All Stars
- The Legend of Zelda: A link to the past
- Chrono Trigger
- Super Metroid
- Super Mario Kart
- Donkey Kong Country
- Yoshi’s Island
- Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior
- Contra III: The Alien Wars
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles: Turtles in Time
- Final Fight 1 & 2
- Super Castlevania IV
- Mortal Kombat II
- Super Punch Out
- Zombies Ate My Neighbors
- Pilot Wings
- F-Zero
- Super Mario World
- Super Street Fighter II
- Earthbound
- NHL 94
- Super Ghouls and Ghosts
- Final Fantasy VI
- Super Tecmo Bowl
- WWF Royal Rumble
- Batman Returns
- The Death and Return of Superman
- Captain America and the Avengers
