SMASH Review

Smash premiered Monday night on NBC and I really liked it. I’m not in love with it yet but Katherine McPhee and Megan Hilty blew me away with their voices.

I really don’t want to compare it to Glee because it’s much more adult and it’s not a cheesy like comedy but there were some Glee-esque parts. The way the girls would be singing and then it would fade to them being on stage in costume and then back to reality was a bit like Glee. I have to say it made more sense on Smash. Also, Smash didn’t seem like they were lip synching. The songs and dance scenes fit the moments.

I thought the way the story unfolded was pretty good. The story is about a Broadway writing duo Tom (Christian Borle) and Julia (Debra Messing) who are preparing an ambitious Broadway musical on the life of Marilyn Monroe.

The baseball number was pretty amazing, I was cheering at home.

I’m not sure where the show is going to go once the show is on Broadway but we will have to wait and see. There should be many good numbers along the way and many twists and turns.

Overall I really liked the show and will continue watching it.
