The ‘Blacklist’ Doesn’t Disappoint For Entertaining TV.

James Spader and Megan Boone in ‘The Blacklist’

NBC’s The Blacklist starring James Spader and Megan Boone debuted last week to positive reviews. It was chock full of action, attitude and thrills. Some say it’s hitch hiking on Hannibal Lecter, but aside from a very dangerous man refusing to speak with anyone but a rookie Federal Agent – and a similar hairdo,  I don’t see the connection.

The Blacklist was filled with plenty of twists and turns. It isn’t clear if James Spader (Red Reddington) is on the up and up, or just manipulating the FBI and CIA for sport. Is Elizabeth Keen, played by Megan Boone as the rookie agent, related to Red in some way? How and why does he know so much about her? It’s already clear that writer John Bokenkamp is more than adept at setting you up to go one way, only to fork in the other direction. Things are not transparent,  the storyline is cloaked in  layers of mystery.

Questions abound outside of the obvious. Who can Elizabeth trust? Is there a mole in the FBI? How did Red know Elizabeth’s husband was hiding something – and what is he hiding? What other criminals does Red have up his sleeve? Will Elizabeth get new carpeting? You’ll have to tune in to NBC Mondays at 10 to find out.  The Blacklist moves fast and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
