The Color Purple on Broadway has done it again! They have made me cry and given me chills!

The cast of the Broadway show gave a send off to Jennifer Hudson after the show with “That’s What Friends Are For”.

Everyone who has done Broadway says there’s nothing like it. The casts are so close and really bond together. Every night you have to come together and be there for each other on the stage.

When Jennifer announced her leave from the hit musical she said, “These last six months have been nothing short of a dream come true. I have found an extended family in the cast of The Color Purple that will go far beyond my commitment on-stage. I owe so much to the Broadway community and our audiences. My heart is full as I say to Broadway, ‘until we meet again.'”

Tony and Grammy Award winner Heather Headley will take over the role of Shug Avery. This is her first appearance on Broadway since winning the Tony Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical for her role in Aida back in 2000. (If you haven’t heard her go listen to that soundtrack!!).

And in case you missed it here is The Color Purple’s tribute to Prince!
