Twin Peaks gets premiere date

The long awaited return of Twin Peaks finally has a date. The 1990’s cult classic will debut on Showtime Sunday, May 21.

27 years after the original series premiered and three years after the revival was first announced, the miniseries will make its long-awaited debut. Original series creators David Lynch and Mark Frost are back, as are original series cast members like Kyle MacLachlan, Sherilyn Fenn, Miguel Ferrer and Mädchen Amick (among many others), as well as Naomi Watts and Amanda Seyfried. Aside from the 217 actors confirmed for the project, little else is known.

The premiere will be two hours. All told, there will be 18 hours, with David Lynch directing and most of the original cast on board.

“We’ve seen the whole thing,” Showtime president David Nevins said on Monday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. “David Lynch is one of the great film masters of my lifetime. I think this is the pure heroin version of David Lynch and I’m excited to put it out.”

I kind of remember the original so it will be interesting to see if old fans of the show tune in.
