For those who caught and enjoyed the initial six episode revival season of ‘The X-Files‘ last year, well, today brings great news as the show has been renewed for an 11th season!
Fox President, David Madden, had this to say about the announced return of the series:
“Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows,” said David Madden, president of Fox. “And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide. Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.”
What’s really great about bringing a series back like this for 10 more episodes is the fact they’re sticking with the original characters we grew to love in Scully and Mulder– played respectively by Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. It seems like a lot of the time, some studios end up wanting to bring in brand new leads versus going with the established characters the fans truly want to see beyond a cameo appearance. So hat’s off to everyone involved for making this a true continuation of the original seasons that aired in the 90s.
Last but not least, the 11th season is scheduled to commence shooting this summer, for an expected late 2017-2018 air date. Nuff said.
