YA Actress Amandla Stenberg, Director Stella Meghie, Join Forces for ‘Everything Everything’.

From the Bestselling YA novel by Nicola Yoon, ‘Everything, Everything’ opens May 19.

The Young Adult Romance/Drama Everything, Everything, based on the book of the same name by Nicola Yoon,  spent 6 months on the New York Times Best Seller list. YA genre films are increasingly popular, and are providing some much needed ‘in roads’ for female directors. Stella Meghie is at the helm of the feature, with a script by J. Mills Goodloe, the scribe for Blake Lively’s, The Age of Adaline.

Writer/Director, Stella Meghie is known for Jean of the Joneses, and is currently writing a VH1 feature, with Alicia Keys on board to produce.

Everything, Everything is about a teenage girl Maddy, played by busy, break-out actress Amandla Stenberg, familiar to many as Rue from The Hunger Games. If you haven’t seen it, check out Amandla’s YouTube smash, ‘Don’t Cash Crop My Cornrows’. Maddy has been locked inside her home for 17 years with her over-protective Doctor Mom (Anika Noni Rose), because she suffers from a rare immune deficiency that makes her allergic to just about everything. Maddy is optimistic and positive, she accepts her situation. She may be locked inside, because the outside world may kill her, but that doesn’t stop her from unleashing the unlimited power of her mind. Maddy finds a soulmate in the handsome teenage Olly(Nick Robinson from Jurasic Park), who has recently moved in next door. Although they can only communicate through the window and send text messages, they manage to form a deep loving bond.

Amandla’s dance card is filling up fast. Look for her next in the fantastic Amma Asante’s upcoming historical drama, Where Hands Touch.
