Burberry has partnered with El
ton John to release a limited edition vinyl LP box set of si x of his classic albums.The unique set of records sele cted by Elton, comprises six c arefully remastered albums ori ginally released between 1970 and 2001 and one album previou sly unreleased on vinyl.Available exclusively to Burbe rry in a limited edition run o f 800, the collection of vinyl LPs is presented in a special ly designed Burberry box, each individually numbered, flecke d with gold glitter and emboss ed with Elton’s signature in go ld lettering. The 180 gsm, 12- inch vinyl LPs include all the original artwork and sleeve n otes. The albums were remaster ed from the original tapes by legendary engineer Bob Ludwig, and the vinyl cut at the renowned Abbey Road Studios in London.This partnership marks a long- standing relationship between Burberry and Elton, with Elton most recently appearing in th e brand’s Billy Elliot inspire d Festive campaign last year.Burberry and Elton John are al so united by their shared pass ion for supporting emerging British recording art ists, by giving them a platfor m to showcase their work. THE FEATURED ALBUMSElton John: The earliest album
in the box set, originally re leased in 1970, this was the first album to launch Elton John into the spotlight, with a tracklist including ‘Your Song’ and ‘ Take Me To The Pilot’.17-11-70: Elton’s first live album was n amed after the date on which i t was recorded in front of an intimate audience at famed A&R Studios in New York, with his original band of piano, bass and drums, and was released in 1971. This became his fourth a lbum to simultaneously appear in the Billboard Top 100 chart s in the US – a feat that had not been accomplished by any a rtist since The Beatles.Madman Across the Water: Relea sed in 1971, and selected for this box set by Elton as one o f his “favourite albums of all time”, it includes his classi cs ‘Tiny Dancer’ and ‘Levon’ a s well as the epic ‘Indian Suns et’.Captain Fantastic and the Brow n Dirt Cowboy: Released in 197 5, this autobiographical recor d detailing the early days of Elton and Bernie Taupin’s song writing partnership, was primarily written in the music room aboard the final voyage o f the ocean liner SS France fr om Southampton to New York. Th e album was the first by any a rtist to enter at No. 1 on the Billboard Charts in the US.Too Low for Zero: Recorded on the Caribbean island of Montse rrat and released in 1983, thi s was the first album in seven years to be completely compri sed of songs written by Elton and lyricist Bernie Taupin. Als o reuniting his 1970’s band, t he tracklist includes ‘I Guess That’s Why They Call It the B lues’, ‘One More Arrow’, ‘I’m Still Standing’ and ‘Kiss the Bride’.Songs From the West Coast: Pre viously unreleased on vinyl, t his album was recorded in mult iple studios across California and released in 2001.
