Jason Ritter, Tyler Ritter, Bryce Dallas Howard and Simon Helberg came together to support their friend Marianna Palka and her film “The Lions Mouth Opens. Marianna filmed her journey to see if she inherited the Huntington’s Disease gene in “TheLions Mouth Opens”.
The event had a silent auction with amazing prizes such as a lunch with Bryce Dallas Howard and her famed director dad Ron Howard, tickets to see Big Bang Theory and a whole lot more.
Everyone at the event gathered in a large room to watch the short film Marianna Palka did with film director Lucy Walker. “The Lion’s Mouth Opens” has really two acts. First, a dinner with her friends giving their support as she enters this journey; and next the trip to the doctor’s office to find out the outcome of the test.
Marianna’s father suffers from Huntington’s Disease so Marianna went on the journey to find out if she had the gene for it. The disease is genetic and it’s the only way to get it. The disease effects both the mind and body. It’s a cross between Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
Bryce is there when Marianna finds out if she does have the gene. My grandfather passed from Parkinson’s and my heart ached watching her.
