IT : Biggest Box Office Opening Ever For September!!!!

The big screen adaption of Stephen King’s ‘It’ managed to record the biggest ever box office gross for a September film this past weekend. It took in an estimated $117.2 million domestically and another $62 million overseas.

This news couldn’t have come at a better time for the Hollywood box office in general as it’s on the heels of one of the poorest summers on record for profitable films. And while compared to other R-rated Stephen King adaptions, ‘It’ surpasses them all for largest opening day returns.

As far as the critical response so far? Overall, for those that live and die by Rotten Tomatoes, it’s holding at 86% on there, and currently about a 70% rating for Metacritic. That’s pretty damn good as far as horror films go, although I’ve personally read some critiques that perhaps the film isn’t as scary as reading the novel. Regardless, it truly sounds like it’s worth the trip to the theaters. Nuff said!
