Everyone’s favorite hitman will officially be returning to theaters on May 17, 2019. Lionsgate confirmed the date recently and it was initially reported by the Hollywood Reporter.
The spring release date for ‘John Wick 3′ marks a pretty distinct change from the previous two installments that were released in October and February respectively. Regardless, this has been a very profitable series thus far with the first film grossing $88 million worldwide on a $20 million dollar budget, and the second one grossing $171 million worldwide!
I’m not sure there’s been such an incredible double-feature of action films in modern times. Watching Keanu Reeves execute so many meticulous and choreographed fight scenes along with the rest of the players involved is nothing short of mind-blowing. The fact no CGI has been used (to my knowledge) and everything is done the old fashioned way with real stunts along with Reeves not using stunt doubles, truly makes this a series to respect the hell out of.
The only real drawback with this news is this third and final entry won’t be out a little sooner. 2019 seems a ways away, but with the writer of the first two entries returning, perhaps that’s a good sign this trilogy will finish out on a very magnanimous note. Nuff said.
