‘The Big Sick’, ‘Certain Women’, ‘Starship Troopers’, ‘The Hero’ On DVD Sept. 19

‘The Big Sick’ was the runaway Indie hit of the summer.

The Big Sick. Comedy. DVD, Blue-Ray. IMDB pro-rating 7.9 with a 98% approval on Rotten Tomatoes. Written by Kumail Nanjiami(who also stars) and Emily Gordon with directing by Michael Showalter. Kumail Nanjiami stars as a standup comic who meets and American girl at one of his shows. They start dating, and really hit it off, but he worries how his Muslim family will accept her. When she falls ill and slips into a coma, he becomes close to her family and makes some big emotional choices. Ray Romano, Holly Hunter, Anupam Kher and Zoe Kazan star.

Certain Women. Drama. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDB pro-rting 6.6 with 93% approval on Rotten Tomatoes. Kelly Reichardt adapts the script and directs from 3 short stories by Maile Meloy. Three women in the Northwest struggle to forge their futures. One is a  lawyer and becomes involved with male dominance and a hostage situation, another is a mother trying to build her dream home and the third is a teacher who becomes involved with a student. Kristen Stewart, Laura Dern and Michelle Williams, star.

Starship Troopers. DVD. Blue-RAY. IMDB pro-rating 7.2 with a 6% satisfaction from Rotten Tomatoes. The troopers must battle giant bugs who are trying to destroy all of mankind. Casper Van Dien, Denise Richards, Neil Patrick Harris and Jake Busey star.

The Hero. DVD, Blue-Ray. IMDB pro-rating 6.8 with a 77% score from Rotten Tomatoes. Sam Elliott stars as a washed up singer, looking for one more comeback. He spends his days getting high and feeling sorry for himself, until he is diagnosed with Cancer and has to make every minute count. Laura Preppon, Katharine Ross, Nick Offerman and Krysten Ritter star.
