The ‘Hobbit’ to be a Trilogy

Special Correspondent: James Jewett

Peter Jackson, director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, is at it again. The man has a taste for three part epics and he, as well as the rest of his film making team, cannot resist transforming the Hobbit into a movie trio. In San Diego earlier this year fans from around the world gathered dressed up to get a sneak peak at the future of their favorite comic books, movies, television shows. Jackson himself appeared to represent the Hobbit and gave Comic Con attendees something to buzz about, a possible trilogy. It’s now confirmed by Peter Jackson’s himself. On his Facebook page he writes,

It is only at the end of a shoot that you finally get the chance to sit down and have a look at the film you have made. Recently Fran, Phil and I did just this when we watched for the first time an early cut of the first movie – and a large chunk of the second. We were really pleased with the way the story was coming together, in particular, the strength of the characters and the cast who have brought them to life. All of which gave rise to a simple question: do we take this chance to tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as the filmmakers, and as fans, was an unreserved ‘yes.’

Congratulations Tolkien because of the massive following of your stories and the never ending thirst for filmmakers to translate tales of granduer on to the big screen your story will be completely shown in the world’s most popular medium. The start of the trilogy will be called An Unexpected Journey and will open December 14th this year. Below is the trailer for your consideration.
