‘The Zookeeper’s Wife’. Terrence Malick’s ‘Song to Song’ on DVD July 4.

Jessica Chastain is the hero, hiding over 300 Nazi War refugees in her husband’s Warsaw Zoo during WW2.

The International Movie Data Base (IMDB) is the industry standard in critical and customer satisfaction.

The Zookeeper’s Wife. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDB pro-rating 6.1. When the Zookeeper, played by Daniel Bruhl, is forced to report to the Nazi’s after Warsaw is invaded by Nazi’s, his wife, played by Jessica Chastain, secretly shelters over 300 Jews at the Zoo. Also starring Johan Heldenberg, Michael McElhatton.

Song to Song. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDB pro-rating 6.1. It’s disappointing that some of the greatest talent in Hollywood, Terrence Malick, Michael Fassbender, Natalie Portman, Ryan Gosling, and Rooney Mara, working together on Song to Song, could not get it air-born. Terrence Malick carries the blame. The actors were asked to ‘improvise’ much of the dialogue, and excused themselves by saying the director was ‘unclear’. This is unfortunate, as many talented ‘unknown’ directors are clear with the messages they hunger to produce. Go figure. This is the story of convoluted love triangles, set in Texas (a Malick comfort zone). Ryan and Michael are music producing partners, Rooney is an up and coming singer, Natalie Portman a waitress, love interest.
