Alex Low in ‘Plan B’ Premiering May 28 on HULU

Alex Low co-stars as “Rake,” Hunter’s best friend and goofball jokester in the upcoming feature PLAN B premiering on Hulu on 5/28.

PLAN B is a ‘girls behaving badly’ feature film debuting this Friday on HULU. It is a fast and funny all-night road trip comedy directed by Natalie Moralis and written by Joshua Levy and Prathiksha Srinivasan.

It was such a treat being able to speak with Alex Low, a California actor, currently soaking up the creative arts and theatre magic in Brooklyn and NYC. I was excited to speak with Alex about his upcoming role as Rake in Plan B, his work with Vince Vaughn in ‘Binge’ (currently on HULU) as well as his interests in writing for theater and film, Kundalini Yoga, Tai Chi, Psychomagic, Meditation, Hiking, Foraging, Cooking, Writing, Martial Arts, Acrobatics, and a plethora of other activities!

How were you challenged as the ‘goofball’ friend Rake in PLAN B ?

Alex Low: Natalie Moralis gave me a lot of freedom while filming. She encouraged me to use my own creative flair and skills from my comedy improv experience. I am currently developing a solo creation of a clown and physical theater piece so I enjoyed diving into Rake’s unique and funny character.

What is ‘Psychomagic’?

Alex Low: It’s a film and book by the Artist/Filmmaker Alejandro Jodorwsky (El Topo, The Holy Mountain) that reveals the Shamanic Therapy principles Jodorowsky discovered to create a healing therapy that uses the powers of dreams, art, and theater to empower individuals. It’s kind of like a Shamanic form of therapy. When Jodorowsky lived in Mexico he familiarized himself with the colorful and effective (often surreal) cures used by folk healers, and he understood that it is easier for the unconscious to understand the language of dreams than that of rationality.

Who inspired you to become and actor?

Alex Low: Jack Black! I was just a kid and I was watching ‘Nacho Libre’, I said to myself I want to do that! I wanted to learn physical comedy.

Who are some actors or directors you would like to work with?

Alex Low: Anyone who would be willing to share the screen with me! Actually, I have a very long list, but for actors, Riz Ahmed and Joaquin Phoenix immediately come to mind. As an actor, Joaquin plunges into every role, always creating something new, a character you’ve never seen before. As far as Directors, I’d say David Lynch, Jim Jarvis. One of my favorite films is Inherent Vice by Paul Thomas Anderson, starring Joaquin Phoenix.
