It has been announced that Anna Paquin’s part in the new X-Men film, X-Men: Days of Futures Past will not make the final cut.

That’s right, sadly Rogue will not be making in appearance in an already huge endeavor of a comic book film with the merging of young X-MEN and their older versions. Bryan Singer lamented that the sequence with her character had become extraneous through the editing process, but by in large a great sequence nonetheless. It was apparently some sort of rescue sequence that involved Rogue, Professor X, Magneto, and the Iceman character.

However, Singer said this portion of the film will end up on the eventual DVD/Blu-ray release so fans will be able to see it. And in retrospect, this isn’t the first time Singer has cut a major sequence out of one of his films. With 2006’s Superman Returns, he excised a lengthy, and epic sequence at the beginning of that, where Superman returns to Krypton, stating it just didn’t fit with the pacing. I never understood why he cut it, but here’s hoping the one for X-Men: Days of Futures Past won’t feel like a mistake to have cut.

As always, thanks for reading!
