A YOUNG MARRIED COUPLE MAKES THE DANGEROUS MISTAKE OF PARTICIPATING IN A SECRET SWINGERS PARTY WHERE THEY BECOME THE TARGET FOR A JEALOUS AND HOMICIDAL NEIGHBOR IN “SUBURBAN SWINGERS CLUB” PREMIERING SATURDAY, MARCH 9,    8PM ET/PT ON LIFETIME

Lori (Dana Davis, “Franklin & Bash”) and Grant (Jesse Ruda) are married working professionals living the American Dream in a picturesque Los Angeles suburb but with a stalled marriage.  As a result, they agree to try a secret spouse swapping “swingers club” in their neighborhood.  Lori ends up with Noah (James O’Halloran), the hunky neighbor who lives across the street.  Grant is jealous, while Noah’s wife, Olivia (Elizabeth Leiner) watches emotionless.  Grant ends up with Giselle (Nawal Bengholam) the couples go to separate bedrooms.  Later, Lori and Grant return home and their romance sparks back to life.

During the next week, things begin to unravel.  Noah pursues Lori as Olivia suspects that he is cheating on her again.  Grant wants Lori to return with him to another swingers party, but she emphatically says, “no.”  Noah continues to stalk Lori and refuses to leave her alone.  After Lori tells Grant about the harassment, he confronts Noah in front of Olivia and accuses him of stalking Lori.  Noah denies it and Grant threatens him.

The next day, Grant travels out of town on business and Lori is alone in the house. That night, a figure sneaks into the house and spikes her glass of wine.  As she slips into unconsciousness, she sees Noah in the doorway and then sees flashes of a bloody knife and Grant dragging Noah’s body into the kitchen.  She blacks out.  The next morning, she wakes up in bed and Grant is there.  He tells her it was probably a nightmare since he didn’t find a body.

Later that day, Olivia visits Lori and tells her she is concerned because Noah is missing.  Lori becomes suspicious and suspects Grant killed Noah, and is trying to cover it up.  When Noah’s dead body is found, Olivia plays the distraught widow.  The police question Grant about his threats against Noah and Lori accuses Grant of killing him.  The police arrest him for murder.  Later, Lori finds evidence that Grant did not go on a business trip but was with Giselle so he could not have committed the murder.

Grant tells Lori he found Noah’s dead body on their floor and believed Lori killed him, so he hid the body to protect her.  Lori believes him and sets out to find the real killer.  Lori finds evidence that Olivia was in her house that night and plans to expose her but Olivia kidnaps Lori and plans to kill her.  Lori has to act quickly to find a way to save her life.

Speaking with Dana Davis, a multi-talented woman with her feet on the ground and her head looking toward the stars! Not only is she a celebrated actress, she is an accomplished Violist, published writer with a contemporary YA brand, and a Mom to seven year-old Cameron.

When did you decide to become and actress?

Dana Davis. I was a precocious hyper-active child. My Mom enrolled me in a ‘Theater for Kids’ in Iowa when I was seven, figuring it would be a good way for me to use up extra energy. As soon as I stepped on the stage I knew, “this is where I want to be”. I felt at home.

How did you get to Los Angeles?

Dana Davis. Looking back, it’s hard to believe, but growing  up I kept pleading with my Mom to move to LA. She had no intention of moving, but she told me I could move at 18, if I still had my big dreams. I actually took a bus, by myself, when I was sixteen, to check things out and search for auditions. I ended up attending Loyola Marymount University in LA, and graduating with a BFA in vocal performance. I played the Viola all my life, from the time I was seven, so I feel like I have have musical roots. Being musical is like having a second language.

Tell me about your Storytelling.

Dana Davis. Yes, I’m so excited. I’ve discovered I am passionate about writing. I write contemporary YA for young black girls learning to navigate the world. They are go-to narratives for becoming aware of reality and finding your peace. My first book was Tiffany Lives Here Now. My next book The Voice Inside My Head is set to be released May 28. It’s a fun family road trip adventure. The Imprint is Inkyard Press, by Harpercollins.

What was it like doing a romantic thriller?

Dana Davis. It was the first time I had ever really worked with a female director. Jessica Janos made me so comfortable. I felt like she spoke my language. Doing romantic scenes in front of an entire crew can be awkward, but she made myself, and my co-star Jesse Ruda, feel comfortable and at ease. We had a great time.

Will you encourage your daughter to go into show business?

Dana Davis. Absolutely, if she wants to. She is learning to play music and she has perfect pitch, which is a gift.  I hope she gets the opportunity to make the most of it.

Don’t miss Dana Davis in ‘Suburban Swinger’s Club’, this Saturday, March 9 – on Lifetime!
