ARC ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY PRODUCES ‘BACKYARD BALLET’ ORIGINAL SHORT FILMS

Production Company’s Principal Dancers Surpasses Over 130 Livestreams Since Stay-at-Home Orders Were Given in March

As a result of the global pandemic, most production companies have had to shut down, halting film production for the unforeseeable future, yet the principals at ARC Entertainment Company have been producing original short films and live streaming during their “Backyard Ballet,” live performances held on Facebook and Instagram. The trio had already had one short film that completed principal photography in January, the original featurette PAS DE DEUX and another one in production COVID ROCKIN’, written and produced during the pandemic.

PAS DE DEUX, the first original film from ARC Entertainment Company is a ballet-centric love story with a mysterious twist. Best known for daring to merge ballet with rock concerts and has shared the stage with iconic rock bands The Wallflowers, Disturbed, and Jefferson Starship. It stars rock legend Cy Curnin, lead singer of the band The Fixx, alongside principal ballet dancers Kirsten Bloom Allen and Magnus Christoffersen who are making their acting debuts. PAS DE DEUX is directed by award-winning director Jason O. Silva and choreographed by award-winning choreographer Tigran Sargsyan. The film is set to the music of Erik Satie and was shot on location at the rumored to be haunted Woodbury Story House in Pasadena, CA in January 2020. PAS DE DEUX is an official selection of the prestigious Newport Beach Film Festival and will be screened exclusively online during the festival taking place October 1-11, 2020.

COVID ROCKIN’ is a satirical look at a day in the life during COVID. Inspired by iconic filmmaker Martin Scorsese, the short film marks filmmaker Magnus Christoffersen’s directorial debut and made its world debut on KUSI’s “Good Morning San Diego.”

ARC Entertainment founder Kirsten Bloom Allen said, “The budget for this short film was an unprecedented two pizzas for the two actors,” revealing that the original feature was shot on a tiny budget and an iPhone. “Art can always find a way during difficult times, and we are thrilled to live stream and produce original content at a time when people need it most.”

COVID ROCKIN’ is produced by Magnus Christoffersen along with ARC Entertainment Company and stars leading male dancer and marks the debut performance of fellow dancer and comedian Tigran Sargsyan and ballerina Kirsten Bloom Allen. COVID ROCKIN’ was awarded the Certificate of Achievement Award from The Indie Short Fest and can be viewed on ARC’s website at www.ArcEntertainmentCompany.com.

At the start of the pandemic in March, Kirsten, Magnus, and Tigran made the decision to quarantine together in order to offer free dance performances via live stream daily on Facebook and Instagram. They transformed Kirsten’s backyard into a stage and have performed over 130 free shows to viewers globally to offer live dance for fans of the arts during these difficult times.

“We will continue to provide these daily live stream performances of entertainment through these difficult and unprecedented times until we can return to live in-person performances,” said Bloom Allen. “Nothing lifts us up or our viewers more than offering the gift of dance and the feeling that it evokes is like no other.”

Their backyard ballet performances recently garnered attention from fans including LXTV where they performed a commemorative 9/11 dance to Disturbed’s “Sound of Silence,” to the US Military where they were asked to create a special performance for the USO leading into 4th of July.  They performed “Shallow,” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper from “A Star is Born,” to commemorate Independence Day and for Father’s Day they performed to various songs including “Eye of the Tiger,” by Survivor.

In May, the trio danced to commemorate Memorial Day to help share messages of positivity and hope and to thank our troops for their service. Kirsten, Magnus and Tigran danced to a “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” by Israel “IZ” Kamakawiwo’ole. They created this as a gift for Mother’s Day celebrating mothers all around the world during this difficult time because a mother’s love only grows stronger in these difficult times.

Additionally they have taught children at ECF the basics of dance, performed for Seniors online at www.seniorly.com as well as Noah’s Ark, a low-income housing property in Lakeland, Florida and recently appeared on Joey Fatone’s Facebook live show “What Does Joey Know,” and even received a shout out during the San Diego Mayor’s Daily Briefing reminding residents to tune-in and watch the live stream.

The trio have been featured on several nationally syndicated television shows including LXTV, “Right This Minute,” “Liquid Lunch on Newsmax,” and “Daytime.” Additionally, they have been featured on several television news programs throughout the US including their hometown market of San Diego, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Charlotte, Phoenix, and San Antonio.
