I have seen Wicked 3 times and unfortunately not with Idina in it but I have scratched the hell out of the CD because I have listened to it so many times. I saw her win a Tony and saw her on the big screen. Now, she is making waves in the Disney film “Frozen.”

“Frozen” has become the top-grossing original animated film of all time, reaching box office records of more than $1 billion and been at #1 on the Billboard 200 6 nonconsecutive weeks.

“Let It Go,” which won the best song Oscar on March 2, has made Menzel the first Tony-winning actor to have a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

After chasing pop success on its terms and failing, she connected with a song from theater composers (Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez) that was written to play to her strengths as a Broadway belter. “There are so many rules in the record business, and this just breaks them,” says Menzel. To be sure, her version of “Let It Go” – anchored by piano and her voice – has sold 1.8 million downloads, while the Demi Lovato power ballad included on the soundtrack has sold 738,000. – http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/5944667/idina-menzel-billboard-cover-story

Idina has been signed and dropped many times trying to do her own music. “Let it Go” didn’t really seem like a radio success it was really grass roots with everyone posted their own version bringing Idina to the top.

She is now making her return to Broadway in “If/Then”  which is about a woman in her 40s whose life is at a crossroads. Menzel worries that her newfound fame might be a detriment to her theater street cred. “I’m a little concerned that critics will use me as a target,” she confesses. “Just because there might be a bunch of young girls waiting outside doesn’t take away from this amazing piece of work.”

This isn’t the first time she has been part of a phenomenon. When “Wicked” took off her fans went nuts painted their faces green and dressing up coming to shows.

No matter where Idina goes her fans will follow whether they are 10-years-old, 30 or 50. This woman has talent like no other. Sit back and enjoy the ride because she has worked really hard to get here.
