Celebrities Respond to the Arrest of KONY 2012 Filmmaker Jason Russell

After being detained for lewd behavior, KONY 2012 video creator, Jason Russell was hospitalized. However, police do not plan to press charges on Russell, reports the HWR

Russell’s goal was to make KONY known and in order to do so the attention of powerful sources such as celebrities was needed in order to raise awareness. Russell got just that, plus attention on his arrest.

Comedian Patton Oswalt tweeted“In Jason Russell’s defense, who DOESN’T celebrate a video going viral by jerking off in public.”

Others like Community executive producer, Dan Harmon mocked cable news for making such great speculation for the arrest.
“All News Arrested for Public Masturbation and Vandalizing Journalism While Possibly Under the Influence of Stuff a Cop Said Someone Said,” Harmon tweeted.

Harmon then added:
“CNN and Fox agree: Do NOT accept uncorroborated propaganda from Internet hippies that possibly drop acid and throw sperm at your car maybe.”

Actors also got involved with this trending topic, actor John Ross Bowie from The Big Bang Theory tweeted:

“You realize this doesn’t automatically make Joseph Kony, a nice guy right?”

Then, Sophia Bush,One Tree Hill actress , joined the twitter discussion backing up her friend writing
“Jason Russell is my friend” and she even included a link where To Write Love on Her Arms founder Jamie Tworkowski praised Jason’s work.

Invisible Children CEO, Ben Keesey assured supporters that the KONY 2012 mission would continue by releasing a video Saturday.
Russell’s wife added:
“We’ll take care of Jason, you take care of the work. The message of the film remains the same: stop at nothing.”
