DVD and Blu-Ray Release Tuesdays

This Tuesday August 21 is a day for Sacha Baron Cohen fans as released today is The Dictator. The movie itself wasn’t as big a success as Cohen’s previous movies Borat and Bruno but I think Peter Bradshaw a writer for the Guardian said it best when he wrote, “Subtle it isn’t. The satirical content is far lower than in Borat, apart from one Michael Moore-ish speech at the end, in which Aladeen begs America to become a dictatorship and, in laying out the advantages, inadvertently reveals that this would involve no changes at all.” Aladeen is Cohen newest alter-ego. Also a plus to this movie is the soundtrack. Above is Dr. Dre… I mean Cohen’s own remake of The Next Episode.

Disney took a crack at documentary works with Chimpanzee, a nature documentary centered on a family of chimps living in the Ivory Coast and Ugandan rain forests. Narrated by Tim Allen so it can have a more light-hearted feel unlike the deep rich voice of Morgan Freeman which has become synonymous with world-class documentary works.
