Films Opening April 17 – ‘Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2’, ‘True Story’, ‘Child 44’, ‘Monkey Kingdom’ and ‘UnFriended’.

A potpourri of films drop for the weekend, from hilarious comedy with Kevin James, in Mall Cop 2, to Disney’s charming Monkey Kingdom, Jonah Hill and James Franco in the chilling True Story, horror/thriller, Unfriended and Vincent Cassel’s thriller Child 44.

MALL COP

Kevin James is back with Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, with SNL funny lady Molly Shannon, David Henrie and Raini Rodriguez. Paul is vacationing in Vegas with his daughter when he is called to help mall security guards stop a large art heist.

TRUE STORY

True Story. Jonah Hill and James Franco team up again for True Story. As the title implies this film is inspired from true events of disgraced New York Times reporter Michael Finkel (Jonah Hill), who is investigating accused killer Christian Largo (James Franco) who has stolen his identity. Felicity Jones and Ethan Suplee also star.

MONKEY KINGDOM

Monkey Kingdom. A Disney charmer starring Maya, a real life monkey mom, living in Castle Rock, the beautiful ancient ruins of South East Asia. Maya is clever and resourceful, wanting to give her new baby monkey all he needs for a wonderful life, but when a group of more aggressive monkeys invade their territory Maya and her family are forced to find a new home and devise a strategy to retake Castle Rock.

UNFRIENDED

UnFriended. This horror/thriller is told entirely from a computer desktop. Six high school friends are video chatting when they are interrupted with a Skype message from a former classmate who was murdered. If they don’t do as they are told, they could be next. Jacob Wysocki, Shelley Hemming, Renee Olstead also  star.

CHILD44

Child 44. It’s the Soviet Union during the time of Stalin. Leo Demitov is a feared member of the military police, but when his friends son is murdered and his wife is accused of being a traitor, Leo is sent to a work camp where he learns of other dead children killed in a similar manner and starts to investigate. Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Vincent Cassel and Tom Hardy star.
