It’s been 12 years since My Big Fat Greek Wedding was released and it was one of the biggest independent films of its times. It has now been announced the hit movie will be getting a sequel. Nia Verdalos wrote the first movie and will write the second and will bring back John Corbett and the Portokalos family.
Rita Wilson is producing along with Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, with Gold Circle’s Paul Brooks executive producing with Scott Niemeyer, Norm Waitt, Steven Shareshian and Nia Vardalos.
Nia tweeted, Now that I’m experiencing motherhood I feel ready to write this next chapter. A few jaded press corps will claim I ran out of money or just want to kiss John Corbett again. One of these things is true.”She went on to say Thank you for all the love, yes the entire big fat family is invited back for the sequel.
Can’t wait! Loved the first one. It’s been a long time since the first one but hopefully it’s worth the wait!
