Craig and Kathryn Walt Hall’s HALL Rutherford facility turns 10 years old. This celebration marks many milestones over the years – let’s take a moment to look back on the Grand Opening event held on March 13, 2005 up in the beautiful Rutherford Hills.
“Superb grapes and much loving care have gone into the wines from the Sacrashe vineyard since March 2005 when the Vienna Boys Choir helped us open our Rutherford facility. It has been and continues to be a wonderful adventure,” says vintner Kathryn Walt Hall.
Kathryn is most known as a public figure after being appointed United States Ambassador to Austria during the Clinton Administration and her husband Craig, is a prominent entrepreneur and investor. Together, the Hall’s own HALL Financial in Dallas, SENZA Hotel in Napa, HALL St. Helena, HALL Rutherford and WALT Wines in Sonoma.
HALL is known to produce critically acclaimed artisan Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon to taste and buy at two tasting room and winery locations in Napa Valley as mentioned. Their vineyard collection features five Certified Organic estates producing classic Bordeaux varietals with acclaimed winemaker Steve Leveque at the help crafting 17 distinct Cabernet Sauvignon wines which demonstrate the unique characteristics and diversity of Napa Valley. “Kathryn Hall” Cabernet Sauvignon that earned #2 of the “Top 100” Wines also in Wine Spectator, and its 2010 ‘Exzellenz’ awarded 100 points by Robert Parker, Wine Advocate. Since the first vintage in 2002, over 75 HALL wines have been rated 94 points and above.
HALL employs high-density plantings and small vine viticulture combined with two cutting-edge, gravity-flow wineries to produce the highest quality wines. In addition, the HALL St. Helena winery was the first LEED® Gold Certified Winery in the State of California in 2009 and earned another LEED® Gold certification for its high tech production facility and modern tasting room in 2014, making HALL pioneers in the use of green buildings for the wine industry. Each of HALL’s state-of-the-art winemaking facilities and tasting rooms combine modern art and architecture matched with spectacular settings.
At HALL Rutherford, we recently introduced our most premier tour and tasting offering called the Appellation Exploration experience. The premier offering will provide guests an unparalleled opportunity to isolate and experience the quality and variety of Napa Valley appellations. This experience is extremely limited and space is booked approximately six months out.
