This year he is nominated for an OSCAR for BEST ACTOR in LES MISERABLES, a role he solicited for himself from Director TOM HOOPER, long before casting began. Playing JEAN VALJEAN, he was acclaimed for bringing ‘depth and charisma’ to the character as well as showcasing his singing talent.
None of the singing in LES MISERABLES is lip-synced, it was all recorded live, on the set, allowing the actors to be -“free in the moment”. The film has already earned over $340 million world-wide!
Hugh and Deborah-Lee are sponsors of the Global Poverty Project and the Worldwide Orphans Foundation, but it’s his LAUGHING MAN WORLDWIDE charity that is closest to Hugh’s heart.
Started as a promise to Dukale, an Ethiopian farmer, Jackman founded the charity and opened a LAUGHING MAN COFFEE SHOP in Tribeca, New York.
