Beginning February 2, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live will debut its new take on the show’s musical performances with “Mash Up Mondays.” Every Monday in February, once-in-a-lifetime musical performances will be created showcasing two artists paired up to form one unlikely supergroup.
Alternative music pioneers Weezer & rock legends ZZ Top kick things off on Monday, February 2nd under the new name Jimmy has coined for them — “Wee-Z Top.” Monday, February 9th will feature “Morris Day and the Haim” — a mash up of legendary funk group Morris Day & The Time with pop-rock sisters Haim. February 16 brings “Aloe Blaccstreet” coupling soul sensation Aloe Blacc and R&B hitmakers Blackstreet.
This creative blending of music artists and genres continues Jimmy Kimmel Live’s long-standing dedication to innovative musical performances. The show has a thirteen year tradition of epic concerts, closing down Hollywood Boulevard for performances by such artists as Justin Timberlake, Paul McCartney, Jay-Z and most recently Taylor Swift plus creating original songs and music videos, e.g. “Channing All Over Your Tatum,” the “I’m F*@#ing” series and “Josh Groban sings Kanye West Tweets.”
