Joan Rivers – You Are One In A Million! (Tribute Video)

Joan Rivers

I have always been a comedy fan ever since I was a little kid. In my house growing up Johnny Carson was on and there would be Joan Rivers. Of course I don’t remember it but somehow it made an impression. As I grew up I knew I wanted to be a talk show host. I would watch clips of Johnny Carson and stand-up comedy. Joan Rivers was someone who said anything that came to her mind. She didn’t apologize and that was something I wanted to learn, something I wanted to implement into my life. With Joan Rivers either you liked her or you didn’t. She didn’t care. Above anything else she wanted to make people laugh. She worked over 300 days a year. If her calendar wasn’t full it was a problem. That meant she wasn’t relevant anymore. She took all jobs that came her way. I took that lesson to heart as well.

I watched Joan on the red carpet. She started the phrase “Who are you wearing?” Now you hear that from every correspondent on the red carpet. She was a trail blazer. She broke the ceiling for women in comedy. When she was on the road doing stand-up there were really no women doing this. This woman worked and she worked hard.

After her husband committed suicide she went right back to work. Laughing is what she knows how to do. She showed the world that through all the tough times in her life.

She had a very special relationship with her daughter Melissa and her grandson Cooper. They seemed to be the light of her life. We send out our thoughts and prayers to them and her extended family.

Joan we thank you for the gift of laughter that you gave us. The work ethic that you showed us. In many ways watching her reality show reminded me so much of my grandmother.

May you make the heavens smile with laughter! I’m sure my grandparents will want a front a row seat!
