Madonna movin’ on up. How does the song go? “Movin’ on up to the East Side…”Well, looks like Madonna is heading to that direction. The New York Post is reporting Madonna bought a $40 million Georgian-style townhouse. The house or shall I say mansion, is four stories with 27 rooms. Madge paid $5 million less than the original asking price.
A source close to the singer said “She’s trying to recreate London in New York City, and this is in the style of a London townhouse.”
Madonna was living part time in London when she was married to director Guy Richie. They also said the house is perfect for the star. There are some cons to the property, it is right near the Lexington Avenue subway. A visitor to the mansion reported that they can hear and feel the trains coming through. But back to the pros, the double-wide mansion has a two-car garage, a 3,000-square-foot garden, nine fireplaces, an elevator, a wine cellar….oh and a partridge in a pear tree. With 13 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms it seems this house can definitely hold Madonna’s family which seems to be growing. Madonna is planning on adopting a second child from Malawi. She said she would move to Malawi after a judge ruled earlier this month that she could not adopt another child—Mercy James–because she had not lived there the required 18 months. Earlier reports stated Madge was to build a home on the land where she is building an all girls’ school. No word yet if that is still a go. The singer is not ready to move in to her Upper East Side estate yet, she is planning major rennovations, along with security upgrades.
