OSCAR LETTERS

AMY

Amy Adams has earned her fifth Oscar nomination for her performance in David O. Russell’s American Hustle.

Amy Adams (39) is an actress and singer who began her career working in Dinner Theaters with her movie debut in 1999’s black comedy Drop Dead Gorgeous with Kirstie Alley, Ellen Barkin and Allison Janney. In 2002 she starred opposite Leonardo DiCaprio (nominated Best Actor in Wolf of Wall Street) in Catch Me If You Can, with her real break-out performance coming in 2005 with the comedy Junebug, for which she was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress.

Amy starred with fellow nominee Meryl Streep in the 2008 film Doubt that also starred recently deceased Phillip Seymour Hoffman. She again starred with Hoffman as his wife in the 2012 film The Master. In 2010 she worked with David O. Russell and Christian Bale (nominated for Best Actor for his role in American Hustle) in The Fighter, for which Christian Bale won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. She recently played Lois Lane in Man of Steel.

Amy is engaged to actor Darren LeGallo, they have one daughter, Aviana. She has already taken home this year’s Golden Globe for Best Actress. Does this foreshadow an Oscar? Watch the Academy Awards Sunday, March 2 on ABC  hosted by Ellen DeGeneres to find out.
