Music and Movie Tuesday: What’s New

Special Correspondent: James Jewett

It’s Tuesday and you know what that means.

On this particular Tuesday, August 7 to be exact, the movie The Lorax is not available on DVD and Blu-Ray. You can not let this endearingly grumpy orange fuzzy creature into your households. Adapted from Dr. Sues‘ children story about a boy who journeys to find the one thing that will help him win over the girl of his dreams but in order to do so he must learn of the Lorax’s struggle to protect his world. This movie has received mixed reviews but for those who can stomach the fact that Hollywood to some liberties with the tale of The Lorax it will be a heartwarming experience. LA Times called it, “bigger, brighter, and more befuddled,” they were talking about these such Hollywood liberties however the movie opens with a warning from The Lorax, voiced by Danny DeVito, ” there’s more to this story than what’s on the page.”

Also out is Marley. The definitive life story of a musician who’s meager start and rise to international levels of fame have made him a legend. I think its safe to say everyone in America has heard a Bob Marley song and this movie will explain why Bob wanted to be ‘hit with music’ and why he struck the world with song.

Nas is back with his eleventh studio album to date. Titled Life is Good. The CD boasts 14 skillfully laid out tracks and NJ.com says this album has Nas, “lay(ing) it all on the table, and it isn’t pretty — but he’s such a skillful rhymer that even at his ugliest, he’s capable of producing astonishing beauty.”
