The original Batmobile used in the 1960s Batman TV series is expected to go up for auction this Month.
The car could sell for millions, said Barrett Jackson, chief executive for The Barrett Jackson Auto Auction House.
Some other iconic cars have gone for very high prices including the 1964 Aston Martin DB5 used in James Bond films. That car sold for $4.6 million in 2010.
On TV, the Batmobile’s could shoot flames, oil and slash tires. But of screen the car actually can’t do that.
In an interview with CNNMoney, George Barris, the creator of the car, said he has been offered large sums for the car in the past but he’s never considered selling before. He agreed to sell this time, he said, because he thought it was time to move the car out of his studio and put it someplace where more people could enjoy it.
We will have to wait and see what the car will actually sell for.
