Perfect Time Inc. presents ‘Deeper Than Cotton II’

Special Correspondent: Eric Bello

Last week we had the chance to attend a unique art event presented by Perfect Time Inc., which was sponsored by rapper Nelly’s Apple Bottoms clothing line. Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Ciroc vodka and gourment chocolate company Uncle Petie’s Sweeties. The event took place in Apple Bottoms NYC showroom which provided an intimate setting to view some very unique art pieces by various national and international artists under the creative direction of Bobby Oyawusi.

The collection, Deeper Than Cotton II, showcased some very interesting pieces, but the standouts were the “Label Whores” series and the “Cut Your Losers Not Your Losses” series. The Label Whores series was just as it sounds basically portraying some of the top designer labels’ logos in compromising, dare we say ‘artistically vulgar’, situations. Some of the brands included Louis Vuitton, Channel, YSL, Fendi, etc… Conversely, the Cut Your Losers Not Your Losses series had a very George Condo feel to it, but had a meaning behind the celebrity images which is so amazing when you think about it. The series showcased several celebrities including Neil Patrick Harris, Robert Downey Jr., Michael Vick and Bret Michaels in the classic Street Fighter video game ‘defeated’ pose with a number applied to the background. The ‘defeated’ pose represents their ‘fall from grace’ or from the spotlight and the number in the background signifies the year of their triumphant come back. Brilliant!

Among those in attendance include Daisha (MBK Recording Artist), Zach Simmons (Creative Director), Chauncy Jackson (Songwriter/Entrepreneur), James Ferrell (Icer Brands), Miguel Perdomo (Fashion Model), Lena Lorraine (Celebrity Stylist) and Biff Warren.
