Thank You Bill Hader and HBO for ‘BARRY’.

Bill Hader takes the laughs to the dark side in the fresh and edgy HBO series, ‘Barry’.

The International Movie Data base (IMDb) is the industry standard for critical and customer satisfaction.

BARRY. SNL funnyman Bill Hader scores big with an 8.1 pro-rating from IMDb and a 98% approval on Rotten Tomatoes. Airing on HBO,  Sundays at 10:30 pm.                                                                                                                                                                                 Written and created by Bill Hader and Alec Berg. BARRY creates a simple plot device, a cold blooded hitman who gets hit by the acting bug,  the laughs and action unfold naturally. Using all the elements of must see TV, Barry (played by Bill Hader) misses his monologue audition to his scene stealing acting coach’s (Hello, Henry Winkler) audition. This is a brilliant set-up to Barry confronting his coach after class, where he asks if he thinks he would be a good actor. The coach replies ‘NO’, because acting is about ‘truth’, allowing Barry to spill his guts (and his core wound) about being a Afghani refugee with PTSD, whose only skill is being able to kill, and whose ‘friend of the family’ helps him put that skill to good use. The coach is blown out by his performance, thinking it’s a made-up audition and not a true story. Needless to say, he wants him in his class. Add in the spicy dilemma of Barry wiping out a good part of his murder for hire employees (in self-defense), and the heat waves between Barry and fellow acting student (Sarah Goldberg),  you understand why it’s not TV – it’s HBO.

The outstanding cast, whose comedic skills make you laugh without saying, or sometimes even doing – anything, I’m talking about –  Stephen Root, Anthony Carrigan, Glenn Fleshler, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, D’Arcy Carden, Andy Carey, Rightor Doyle.

Treat yourself, laugh, and catch up on the first two episodes of BARRY!
