The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Inaugural Gala

It was a Hollywood gold star studded crowd, including Mr. Hollywood himself, Warren Beatty, celebrating the future home of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, on April 11.

The nearly 300,000-square-foot cultural landmark, designed by architects Renzo Piano and Zoltan Pali,  will attract visitors from across California and all of the United States. It will feature interactive, family friendly moviemaking labs, guided discussions, media literacy and industry-wide topics.

The Museum will feature screenings of both established and emerging filmmakers, plus multidisciplinary presentations by artists, craftspeople, technologists and creative collaborators behind the scenes. It will feature six levels of programming and exhibition space.

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will be environmentally sensitive, the adaptive reuse of the historic, 1939 Wilshire May Company Building, will have a 15,000 square-foot landscaped public piazza that will serve as a gathering center that will connect the Museum with the LACMA campus.
