Saoirse Ronan stars as a young Irish woman who immigrates to New York and falls for a tough Italian, only to be tempted by the fruit of another when she returns to Ireland for a visit. Emory Cohen and Dominic Gleeson co-star. Nominated for Best Picture and Best Actress 2015.
Carol. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDb Pro-rating 7.4. Based on the novel The Price Of Salt by Patricia Highsmith, Carol is a groundbreaking story of lesbian love and romance in the 1950’s. Rooney Mara is a young girl working in a department store at Christmas, when a glamorous, wealthy older married woman seduces her while buying a pair of gloves. Cate Blanchett plays the older woman in a part that earned her a Best Actress nod as well as a Best Supporting Actress nod for Rooney Mara.
Sisters. DVD. Blue-Ray. IMDb Pro-rating 6.2. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler play sisters who learn they have one-week to clean out their old bedroom where they grew up before their parents sell the house. They decide to throw a wild party that ends up leaving almost no home left to sell.
