Global music and entertainment platform TIDAL announced the release of a new film clip from the much-anticipated boxing drama Southpaw, distributed by The Weinstein Company.  The film is slated to be in theaters nationwide on July 24, 2015.

TIDAL members can view footage from the film featuring an introduction from one of its stars, Jake Gyllenhaal.

“We’re thrilled to be collaborating with JAY Z and the incredible team at TIDAL on the newest and most innovative way to stream today’s top music and videos. TIDAL is pushing the boundaries of content sharing and has made a clear and strong commitment to supporting the artists, writers and producers who create that content and we support these artists on their extraordinary endeavor.”

“We are honored to work with The Weinstein Company, a leader and powerful content creator,” said Shawn “JAY Z” Carter. “This partnership falls in line with our beliefs that Tidal is the home for all creatives.”

From acclaimed director Fuqua (TRAINING DAY) and screenwriters Kurt Sutter (“Sons of Anarchy”) and Richard Wenk (THE MECHANIC), SOUTHPAW tells the riveting story of Billy “The Great” Hope, reigning Light Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the World (Academy Award® nominee Gyllenhaal). Billy Hope seemingly has it all with an impressive career, a beautiful and loving wife (Rachel McAdams), an adorable daughter (Oona Laurence) and a lavish lifestyle.  When tragedy strikes and his lifelong manager and friend (Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson) leaves him behind, Hope hits rock bottom and turns to an unlikely savior at a run-down local gym: Tick Willis (Academy Award® winner Forest Whitaker), a retired fighter and trainer to the city’s toughest amateur boxers. With his future riding on Tick’s guidance and tenacity, Billy enters the hardest battle of his life as he struggles with redemption and to win back the trust of those he loves.  The film also features performances by Rita Ora, Naomie Harris, Miguel Gomez, and Victor Ortiz.

Following promotion of Southpaw, TIDAL and The Weinstein Company plan to collaborate to showcase additional content in the future to further engage and entertain new audiences.
