Updated: TV Shows Picked Up, Returning and Those That Got the Boot

 

This Friday was the day that news came down from the network executives on what shows would get picked up, those that would return and those that would be canceled for the fall season.

Some got more time than expected and some too short of time not to really spread their wings. TV is not what it used to be with DVR players. They don’t give shows the time they used to. All in all today was the day the news came down.

ABC:

Happy Endings which seemed to be a hit with fans got the axe.

New series How to Live With Your Parents (For The Rest of Your Life), The Family Tools and Red Window have all been canceled.

The network opted not to renew two shows Malibu Country starring Reba McEntire and Body of Proof starring Dana Delany.

On the up side fan favorites Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, and Once Upon a Time were renewed.

There was a slew of  new series picked up by ABC a new comedy by Rebel Wilson and Joss Whedon called Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Once Upon a Time got a spin off-Wonderland.

Mixology: From the writers of The Hangover, this high-concept sitcom centers on a group of singles looking for love in a Manhattan bar and is set over the course of a single night. Ryan Seacrest serves as an executive producer with Glee‘s Vanessa Lengies and The Following‘s Adan Canto set to star.

NBC:

NBC announced today that will not be renewing The New Normal for season two.

Go On starring Matthew Perry was also canceled.

Deception: Cancelled.

Animal Practice: No More

Do No Harm: Done

30 Rock: Finished run.

Guys with Kids: Can’t believe it went that long.

The Office: Closed for business.

Up All Night: Christina Applegate quit: This was cancelled … by its own star!

Whitney: Thankfully.

1600 Penn : Impeached.

NBC’s Broadway Show Smash which was moved around to every day I think to stay alive was canceled. It will not be coming back. It was not pulling in the ratings. It was way lower than last year. Very disappointing because the show had such potential and amazing stars in it.

Fox 

American Idol: Seacrest is in and everyone else is out! Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson are all gone! I still can’t believe the show is still here. So it will be all new judges again.

Fringe : Done

Touch: Love it but had its run.

CBS:

Made in Jersey: Never heard of it but done.

Partners: Through

Vegas: Lost too much money in Vegas.

The Job: What?

Rules of Engagement : Broken.

Golden Boy: Did it even start?

CSI: NY: Too many

TNT:

TNT has canceled Southland after five seasons.

In a statement, the network said, “TNT has made the difficult decision not to renew Southland for another season.”
