When you think villain, you don’t think Kristin Chenoweth. She did play the “Wicked” one in Wicked on Broadway.The actress is set to play the role of the Disney villain in Descendants, the Disney Channel’s highly anticipated upcoming original movie.
The live-action adventure comedy will begin production late next month and premiere on the Disney Channel in 2015. Chenoweth will play the one and only Maleficent which follows the teenage children of Disney’s heroes and villains.
The cast includes Booboo Stewart as Jay, son of Jafar, Sofia Carson as Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen, Cameron Boyce as Carlos, Son of Cruella de Vil, Mitchell Hope as Ben, the son of Bell and the Beast, and Dove Cameron who will play Kristen’s daughter.
In the movie the kids are sent to the kingdom’s most famous prep school alongside other notable kids, including children of the Fairy Godmother, Mulan and Rapunzel. It’s there they face the fight of good and evil.
I am pretty intrigued by this. I hope they pull it off and it’s not too cheesy.
Kenny Ortega is set to direct the film. He also directed High School Musical. We will have to wait till 2015 to see how this one turns out. What do you think?
